About Medical Vision Institute

Medical Vision Institute is the ophthalmology practice of Jitander S. Dudee, MD. We are a private clinic specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complicated eye disorders as well as providing quality family eye care, including eye exams, for glasses or contact lenses.

Understanding Medical & Vision Insurance

Medical eye services include the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders such as dry eye, infections, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, eye injuries, etc. Our office is in network with most major medical insurance carriers for payment of these services. If you do not have a medical eye condition, insurance may not pay for your routine eye exam. Few medical insurance carriers cover a routine exam yearly.

Refraction Information

If you would like a refraction, which generates a glasses/contacts prescription, this would fall under your vision plan (if you have one). Medical insurance plans do not cover services such as contact lens fits, glasses prescriptions, or the purchase of glasses. Our office is only in-network with some vision plans; check with your insurance carrier beforehand to see if we are an in-network provider or ask our staff for assistance.

Insurance Billing Policy

Medical and vision insurance carriers CANNOT be billed on the same day. This is their policy, not ours. If you would like to have both of these services performed and billed under separate plans, you will need 2 appointments on different days.

You can still have vision-specific services on the day of a medical eye appointment, but there may be a small fee assessed since medical insurance will not pay us for these services.
